@David Mayberry EXACTLY! I’ve been trying to explain the difference between the two to people. Alzheimers is a disease that eats away at the brain the average time left to live is 4 - 8 years. Dementia is just brain damage that can happen at 50, but you can still live for another 50 years with the exact same cognitive level. The dementia will only get worse if something causes further brain damage. These are two very different things that most people know nothing about! When diagnosed with Alzheimers, my grandfather only lived for another 4 years, died at 85. My wife’s grandmother is 92, and we all know that she’s had dementia for many years, but acts the same now as she did years ago.

@David Mayberry that’s right. Alzheimers is commonly mistaken for Dementia by doctors, because in the early stages of Alzheimers it’s very similar to Dementia. Biden is deteriorating fast, which isn’t just Dementia.

@David Mayberry well, it’s obvious that he has Dementia, but, in your opinion, would you say it’s Alzheimers? I certainly do, because I’ve experienced both Alzheimers and just Dementia at a personal level.

@David Mayberry my take on Dementia is basically just brain damage, from one thing or another, and this causes cognitive problems.
