Because it wasn't a criminal court. He was ordered to pay Jean Carroll (who he never met, just confused her with his wife), to pay her $5 million dollars. Just FYI, the IT guy at Mar largo just dismissed his Trump appointed lawyer in the classified documents case and flipped. He is now working with the feds and named the maintenance man and Donald Trump of trying to get him to delete surveillance videos from the server which showed other Trump employees moving boxes of documents as ordered by Trump.
