@dieseljunker9234 How exactly do you know how someone is going to govern when you first voted for them? You vote based on multiple points, like character, likeability, vision, etc. I just so happen to believe a person of color in a city that is made up of predominantly people of color is a good thing. Compare that to police departments all over this country where you have a community of 95% people of color having a police department made up of 95% white officers. This woman won by stating the obvious and pledging to look at that discrepancy from the top down and look at recruiting for other the department for other races. That's one reason why the police there don't like her and I do. As I asked you, yes I voted for her for those 3 reasons, is it because of those 3 reasons you did not? Don't tap dance around the main issue here, just answer the question.

@squeekfrogman8787 if she is so horrible in her freaking job, why aren't they removing her? The city council would have done something by now wouldn't they if that were true. The reason some people don't support her is for the reasons I mentioned and the fact that they are of a different political party. Please show where the city is burned and name or point to why people are dead because of her direct actions. Last I checked Chicago was a deadly place to live way before she became the mayor. Who's to blame for that? An elected official or the officers on the beat? The police department recieved millions in city money to protect the community, yet they aren't doing it at all. Yes they should have their budgets cut and have that money go to revitalize the community. Yes cops should have better training so they don't go around executing the people they are sworn to protect. Ask yourself, why is it that a cop is so prone to kill an citizen who may be unarmed yet capital police officers don't draw their weapons at all when they are confronted by a weapon wielding mob hitting them and spraying them with gas? Is that training? Or race related?

What happened at the capital and during the riots are comparing apples to oranges. The response to both was not even close. You people are great at "whataboutisms" because it helps your narrow narrative of, "yes what we did was bad, but look at what those black people did!" Which of the two do you think the world was most horrified by and which do you think it was most in support of?

@johnywoof5007 Please explain how the leader of the executive branch of government is a failure when one of the agencies they oversee is not. If she is a failure, then what does that make the police officers who work for her? Maybe, just maybe it is the police officers who are the failures and failed that young officer who died. Who trained her? Where are the evaluation reports from her supervisors? The training manuals up to date? Where were her team mates when she was killed? How does any of this make the Mayor at fault? It sounds to me that this Mayor is taking some responsibility for anything that happens in her city. Guess that makes her much different from some other (former) politician who took responsibility for nothing, huh.

Maybe it hasn't occurred to you that these "people" have guns and a badge and they are using BOTH as some sort of a God Syndrome against American Citizens! Many people don't want police officers in their communities for obvious reasons! They perceive the police as an extension of certain people (white people in particular) who use them at the drop of a hat to persecute, harass, intimidate, and execute "others" who don't look like the majority of police departments in this country! Why aren't there more police recruiters going into the inner cities and actively trying to hire more people who look like the community their serve? Why don't officers live in the places they actually work? Many law enforcement officers live in the suburbs yet work in the inner cities. They have no idea how people survive in those environments, yet they get to administer "justice" the way they WANT it to be, not the way it is! If you want to pray, then pray for the homeless, the downtrodden, the orphan, the widow and the refugee! THAT is what Jesus said and would want!

if only that were true. I haven't done a thing to "keep" our country divided when it's been divided so long and the election of Donald Trump put that on steroids. I would love to talk to former friends of mine who didn't have this extreme ideology prior to Trump (or they felt they had to suppress it) before he came along and gave voice to the bitterness in millions of Americans. For that I despise him, but it's up to us to decide if we want to live and let live, or tell others how they should live. If you believe we should bring ourselves along without anyone else or if you belive you are better then others or that they "don't belong" then, no. We will stay divided and I'll stand up in your face and tell you that you are wrong.

No one mentions the poor, white trailer trash that overwhelmingly back the republican party (the party of the rich) yet still reside in their broken down trailer. I actually watch fox entertainment just to see what their spin is on national and world news. I don't think you've answered my direct question yet about the reasons I do vote for candidates like Lightfoot and the reasons you don't, which is did you NOT vote for her for those reasons. Of course policy is important, it just isn't in cases where people of color are concerned. If you don't believe that then go read some of the comments from many on this thread who don't address policy but her gender, sexual orientation and race. I commend you if you only vote because of policy, but, if you can, name what policies she was running on when she ran for office? What policies were former President Obama? VP Harris? I'll go so far as to say even Donald Trump didn't have a specific policy to run on other then insults and how beautiful everything was going to be. I am wrong. Much of the time. I don't believe I am all-knowing in any event. If I gave that impression obviously I was misunderstood or misquoted. That being said, can you answer any of my questions? @evileyegaming405 do you even know what "defunding the police" means? Do you have any idea how much money is spent on policing in our major cities? How much a police captain makes? Where does the money come from to allow police departments to possess military grade machines and tactical gear? How much money compared to those budgets goes to education in many cities? What do you think would be the outcome of a society that spent the equivalent of what we spend on our military towards education? If we were to "defund the police" to better educate our citizens, we WOULD see a dramatic decline in prison populations and a revitalized community infrastructure. Then cops would be safer and the citizens less afraid of them!

A republican gave us "the war on drugs" which resulted in the wrongful incarceration of hundreds of thousands of people of color and the launch of the biggest prison population of our time. 13% of the population was black yet 65% of the people behind bars are as well. That alone tells you everything.

I'm not sure if you did, but here's an excerpt: "The suit says that violent, armed vigilantes mixed in among the peaceful protesters who gathered at the site to protest police violence and pay tribute to Brooks. At least two people had been shot and wounded in that area in late June." Peaceful Protesters are the BLM movement. "Armed vigilantes" are not. I've been to BLM protests and they were ALL Peaceful. When the protests were over, then the trouble began. Yes, these people need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I have no problem with that at all. What I do have a problem with is that you people try to tie every nasty event to the movement. When I see the Confederate battle flag and the NAZI flag at Trump rallies or protests, I don't think all of the people there are nazis or Confederate sympathizers, so don't clump all of the BLM movement as being "armed vigilantes".
