  1. To evaluate how these conditions came about, one would have to look at it in a wider historical context. Certainly the early days after the tribes went onto reservations set a precedent, as they were treated far worse than animals, and with their lost way of life where they had been self-sufficient, they were now imprisoned on the poorest land available, relying upon state handouts, full of grief and despair for the loss of their culture and loved ones, and yes some took to the bottle, something promoted by the whites. For those who know of reincarnation, well I was there, at the time of Crazy Horse and Tecumseh, and my heart bleeds when I see these videos on Youtube, for I recall deep in my heart how it was. And I have worked in poor community settings in the UK, some of the poorest, yet never seen such an impoverished neighbourhood. Remarkable how these communities mould really good people, like the woman we saw, but then humility is the key to goodness, and the lack of expectations can sometimes forge such beauty. However, it is right to have hope, and to bring increasing beauty and the right type of development into your community, for this is the fulfillment of our spiritual purpose, which is why we are here! Hence why, despite any depravations, to begin to live as close to the old ways, and to allow the Great Spirit into one's heart is the only way forward. Soon the societies built up on the tenets of the 'ways of the white man' will collapse under the burden of their remarkable amounts of karma, for living the wrong way. Then, as has been prophesied, a new epoch can come for those who live to honour the Great Spirit in his sacred laws, especially in treating Mother Earth with the utmost respect and reverence. Thus, I am pleased to see an alternative energy project taking root on the reservation, and I would advocate that the tribe works alongside planners and developers from environmentally friendly organisations, who can help rebuild these communities into ones that are once again resilient, and where the people can be full of civic pride in their place. This would mean a greater focus on spiritual and sustainable values, bringing beauty into all arts and crafts, having sacred places of worship, community models of diverse forms of healing, surrendering to and sensing the power of the Great Spirit, and His Will for the tribe and its people. With a clear plan, costs can be calculated, and maybe there are grants from the UN, the US government, the World Health Organisation, and others. A few contacts that will have useful ideas in the Uk are the Transition Towns, that came out of a place called Totnes, and Friends of the Earth, who I think may be a worldwide organisation. The internet offers lots of links, and I feel certain that help can be found, although as I found to my cost not long ago, there is a lot of deviance and corruption everywhere, hence why I have been seriously ill, after all my projects were stolen, along with other attacks and forms of harassment. The 'ways of the white man' run deep and far now! I should have liked to have been in the old days, and literally buried the hatchet not with these people, but in and on them, for the ways of peace are good, until you are dealing with scum, then they need to be dealt with by other means. Perhaps, all those years ago, we should have never lent a hand to the whites, and sent them into the sea. Yes, my skin colour is white now, but my heart belongs to the Oglala, the Lakota, the First Nations, the Pawnee, the Navajo, and the beautiful wilds of the forests and open prairies. And I ask upon the four winds.......where are my people now!
