  1.  @StellaKuru  I also recall reading before the War...a small section in a daily on a page 7 I think it was. It said that forces have been removed from the Falklands...and it was as though the British were begging the Argies to invade...now who would want a war? A Tory party that is heading out of power...backed by the Neoliberlaists who the interviewee mentioned...doubtless including the US war machine...and with big plans for the UK...but again...as he rightly said...the country was then carried away on a wave of jingoism. I was in the pub at the time...and looked at the lads ringing out the national anthem...these were miners...who were about to receive the same treatment...I just knew intuitively...and I recall thinking how people are so easily led...not everyone of course. I had just been on a management course for the NCB...where we told that Scargill would soon be done and dusted...and at least over 80 pits were destined for foreclosure...despite most being viable. And then I heard of new faces being set up with millions of pounds of taxpayers money...but no new coal was extracted...simply to fix the accounts...and label a fit and healthy fit as decrepit. The lies in the Strike was unbelievable...it was then I realised that you cannot trust your govy, the police, none of the authorities...nor the gutter press, Despots...almost the lot of them. After all I saw in that Strike...I became a more critical analyst of life...and there is nothing better than being free within. FREEEEEDDDOOMMMM...

  3.  @dodgro8342 PART ONE I can tell ye, brother. The decimation of the Mining Union would lead to a number of objectives that had already been well prepared for some yrs before the strike. I know as I was on senior management of the NCB, and we were told of what was coming. The loss of the mines would lead to the loss of Union and working class power, by which the govt could incorporate their plans and schemes to privatise the whole country, for at that time we had many nationalised industries that had been developed upon taxpayers hard-earned money, proffering mass employment in certain locations. These masses, mostly working mostly in heavy industries, saw the birth of unionism, which had on one hand led to better working and living standards, but was a thorn in the side of the ruling parties of the govt when their agendas were different to those of the Unions, and potentially harmed their members. Thus, the unions, rightly or wrongly, were a moral compass, and a voice for the conscience of the working class, and the nation, and had increasingly become more organised and better educated, and therefore a blight upon any prospective oppression from their employers and govt, who much preferred ignorant submission to their demands. Strikes were their main weapon though, or work to rule, which were deeply frowned upon by the ruling classes, despite calling other nations democratic processes into question when they tried to prevent any form of demonstration.. And the miners were stalwarts of the ethos of 'all for one and one for all', reflected by their frequent support of other unions in their disputes with the govt, and in their high levels of community care that were second nature to them, as most families had worked for yrs in the mines, losing fathers, brothers and sons, and so watched out for each other, not least since they had usually known their work mates since primary school. The NUM had also defeated and brought down the Heath govt, something any true blue Tory could never forgive the miners, so the plot was hatched in the late 70's to destroy them, once and for all. There were broader objectives too though, as a battle with the miners, and their capitulation, would decapitate unionism and the working class in this country, hopefully, once and for all too. Thus, they prepared by importing coal and stockpiling it, whilst also changing some power stations to dual fired processes, which could take advantage of the cheap oil at that time. Their only real threat, was if the strike was very long, and no-one knew how long it would be, as I recall sat in a snack cabin just prior to it, and some thought at least 8 weeks, others thought a little longer. I felt it would take at least 6-18 months, as I knew the preparation that had gone into this by the govt, in relation to the media, police, army, businesses offering money for new unions, stockpiles of coal, dual fired power stations, stocks at power stations, pits, everywhere, and imports. We all knew we would lose, but it felt honest to make a worthy stand for what you believed in, as it wasn't just your job, and the coal industry, it was all the other people who relied on the money, other businesses, your families, your grandsons, the richness of these unusually secular communities that tended to be extremely selfless and generous, and perhaps that's why they didn't and couldn't understand the ruthless nature of the govt. We also knew that the fate of all the national industries laid in our hands, and with it the future prosperity of this country, and who it would belong to. The scene was set then for the miners vs the Tories, the police, the press, the rich, the criminal, and the tossers.

  4.  @dodgro8342 PART TWO Almost all miners knew that this then was an attack on our class, way of life, and was barbaric in nature, which I do not have time to go into. So the scene was set, one year on strike. Then look at what happened afterwards, and you will see what the goals of the Tories were, for they were rapidly affirmed. The desecration of unionism through the deindustrialisation of the country, whereby they severed the roots from the labour movement, and turned man vs man, fragmenting the nation and communities alike. This way, it was a lot easier for employers to hire and sack staff, determine wages, determine levels of health and safety, and so on. Thus, industrial relations were to change from us vs them, to just US. This also opened up the gateway to their real aim, which was to privatise all nationalised industries, sell all social housing stocks, and in doing so, ensure the enrichment of the ruling class, and the subjugation of the working class, by the usual method of divide and conquer. To look beyond these base and criminal motives is giving this small group of crooks far, far too much kudos for their actions, who were never interested in the common good, ideals, or some ecological and spiritual motive, such as the miners have been dying of explosions, fall ins and lung disease for too long, so let's close the pits, and give them a nice job on the surface of the earth, rather than somewhere 1000ft below ground level. NO, THY DO NOT THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCES FOR THE PEOPLE, AND THOSE MINING COMMUNITIES, FOR THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEIR GREEDY, EVIL, DEVILISH GOALS. The industry was very efficient I can assure you, there was still a place for coal, which could be filtered if necessary, as other greener industries were considered, and gradually implemented. It was NEVER about viability of the pits though, nor genuine economics, nor ecology, as why would psychopaths who didn't give a F about their people, care about nature.

  5.  @dodgro8342  PART THREE IT WAS ABOUT THEIR GRAND THEFT OF THE NATIONS CROWN JEWELS, THEN WHICH THEY duly and brazenly STOLE, IN BRIGHT DAYLIGHT, AND SUBSEQUENTLY DESTROYED THE UNIONS, AND CLOSED MANY INDUSTRIES TO PROMOTE THATCHERISM, CAPITALISM, GREED, THEFTS, CRIMINALITY, AND LIES, LIES, AND DAMNED LIES. This is why this country died a death after the strike, as the working class structures fell apart, companies were handed industries worth a fortune on a platter, which had been paid for by the taxes of the same workers who had lost their jobs, ironically, as anything deemed profitable, went for a SONG, and was remarkably immediately worth far more after being made private, as though privatisation worked miracles and would be the panacea for all men's woes, which had been constituted by the working man, who was painted as the enemy within. Thus, it was a small no of rich and powerful people whose eyes were bigger than their hearts and desire for truth, and who were willing to annihilate many people's lives and their savings, which included these industries and jobs that offered sustainability and employment for many people in certain areas, wealth which was spread amongst the whole communities, which relied heavily upon the income of the workers in these industries. Almost all pits were viable without govt help, whilst other countries supported their pits heavily. Within 5 yrs or so then, heavy industry dies a death, nationalised industries sold, social housing sold, people baited to buy homes, insurance and pension schemes promoted, as we saw the rapid rise in the importance and magnitude of investment banking, stocks and shares, and small businesses. Quality of life, working standards, and health and safety issues all fell into the background. This is the world the Tories wanted, it was their precedence, and they made billions out of other people's pockets in doing so, which was their main aim, regardless of the cost of building up those industries and safety measures, as many were killed, or maimed, whilst these fat cats sat behind desks twiddling with their pens, and decreeing how to savage the nation, and tear it apart, steal as much money and power as possible whilst making it all look as though they were doing us all a favour. I trust nothing the govt says or does since, they are crooks of the highest order, and it did not surprise me to learn that recent PMs have been educated with blood money through tax evasion, and the constant lies, and money-making schemes of the top politicians. It can be safely said that the moral conscience and hard-work of the masses and the nation died a death with the end of the mining industry, and what we were left with was a ruling, idle, but rich minority, a group of tyrannical robbers who only sought a few things in life...money, power, and fame!!! And they were prepared to thieve it by hook, or by crook. And now they have it in their pockets, many of us have to rely upon their generosity to feed the poor and hungry. A system which promotes winners and losers, masters and slaves, and encourages competition, is bound to lead to death and destruction. Hence why mankind will soon obliterate themselves to a great extent in WW3, and it was always bound to happen, for this is what I learned most in the Strike. Namely that man has fallen away from the grace of God, and by doing so he hath progressively become a rapacious beats, losing connection with the virtues, which are the only means to find God, and the purpose in life. Thus, the miners and their families, although not perfect, were the remnants of a really hardy group of communal people, who relished their camaraderie above all else, and would give their last penny for a worthy cause, whereas those who stole their jobs and silverware, would rob of you of your last penny, no matter how much they were worth, just for the fun of it. BASTA_DS!!!! So as man sows, so shall he reap, and WW3 will rearrange earthly life into something far more conducive for peace, harmony, and genuine happiness, for those deserving of course!
