  1. Yes there was, there was even a Ukrainian nation that existed briefly at the tail-end of WWI before the Bolsheviks invaded and destroyed it. Many in Eastern Ukraine only called themselves Russians because they were resettled there from Russia in the early 1930s. Many of the ethnic Ukrainians that lived in the area were killed in the Holodomor genocide. The area, like Kuban, was resettled with ethnic Russians.

  6. Actually, the land is rightfully Ukraine's. Much of Southern Russia is actually rightfully Ukraine's as well. Many parts of it used to have Ukrainian majorities before The Communists killed them all in the Holodomor genocide.

Kuban was even a part of the Ukrainian Peoples' Republic before the Bolsheviks invaded. I am not interested in fraudulent votes carried out by Russian forces, as the pro-Russian side curiously only wins polls when the Russians themselves are the ones conducting the poll. By every other metric, most people prefer Ukraine.

No major figure was barred from running, aside from the crackpots in the Communist Party. Zelenskyy won most of Ukraine by wide margins, even the so-called pro-Russian east. I am not denying democratic rights to Ukrainians, you are. Virtually every fact you have said is provable false and you know it. The East is not pro-Russian, the Russians and terrorist militias suppress those who oppose them. No, the population of Ukrainian had a sudden decline in the millions during the 1930s. Interestingly, the Soviets resettled Eastern Ukraine with ethnic Russians to repopulate the area after the genocide and the censuses show the population was still millions less than it was before the Holodomor. And as I said before, the Ukrainian populations of southern Russia were effectively wiped out.

  16. There were evidently Orthodox fighting on the German side as well. The 14th SS had both Catholic and Orthodox priests assigned to it as chaplains. And Russia never "freed" anybody, only conquered.

  18. The famine disproportionately killed Ukrainians, even in areas were there were multiple ethnicities living together, Ukrainians died at significantly higher rates. That was because the Soviets deliberately singled out Ukrainians for food expropriation first. And in Imperial Russian times leading up to the 1930s, many areas in Southern Russia were majority Ukrainians, like Kuban for example. After the Holodomor, those Ukrainian majorities disappeared.
