  1. Some auto manufactures recommend a much lower flush interval. For cars that I service, I flush the power steering system every 36-48 months. I realize it with full synthetic power steering fluid and also remove the reservoir and use full strength degreaser wherever possible. If not, replace the reservoir. I just performed this service on an 2005 Avalon and replaced the leaking hoses/lines. It is so much cheaper to flush a system than replacing a pump/rack and pinion unit.
