@bahamasc He's in a rare situation where it might have been smart not to... He's rich ( paid $20M for a waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale last June ) and he owns a YouTube channel with 3m subscribers, so he also has distribution. I have no idea how much Netflix would spend/earn on something like that, but chances was able to cut a better deal with himself.

@leoa4c Ah yes indeed, I guess I meant free as in "not pay per view" as I envisaged in my first answer. . People would have paid. I'm the worst entertainment customer, never take out my wallet for anything, but even I would for something like this. Mob stories is a really specific niche with hardcore fans and next to none new, original content. As a businessman, PBD could have milked the shit out of this and probably made way more $ with PPV than he's going to make from memorabilia and YT ads, or even selling the rushes to Netflix, I guess that's what I meant by "chill dude".
