Healthy and balanced men have a subconscious desire to protect and nurture women, just as women themselves are wired to like feeling protected. Women are turned off by the "fragile type" just as Men are turned off by the "strong independent and well travelled woman" type.

Now, If you have any subconscious desire towards children, that makes you a pedophile, congratulations. Men have the conscious desire to protect children, and the subconscious desire to protect women, which materializes in goofy ways, such as white knighting or bar fights.
