@genesteixemmanuel9450 That little kid has no clue what he's talking about. French billionaires and anyone earning more than €150k/year can pay up to +60% of their income in taxes, so these people really have no culture of pride in doing the "charity" thing. It is also considered vulgar, ostentatious and stupid. They will however, financially support the arts, museums and so on, also for tax purposes. Just like there's no "tipping" culture in France because service IS INCLUDED in the price of the meal, taxpayers assume that they're already paying enough to the State to have to do charity on the side. In addition, you can't legally disinherit your kids ( there's also a 60% tax on what they'll get ) so that's why you won't see french billionaires on the "Giving Pledge" tax write off hoax where they pretend they're going to give 90% of their wealth to charity. People have no idea how taxed this country is. France is a welfare state heavily relying on public money, in 2022 it was 1st¹ out of 38 OECD countries in terms of the tax-to-GDP ratio.
