@julianb1550 Yeah large govt spending programs are mostly ways of moving taxpayer money to corporations. With a significant portion going to the politicians. They aren't going to rewrite laws to benefit your business without some sort of reward.

Electric vehicles, wind farms, photovoltaic farms and water energy will not solve our problem. Nuclear. Another option is space-based solar power generation. Vastly more efficient than anything ground-based. The problems are (1) getting the energy back to the surface, and (2) the lack of space-based infrastructure to handle that level of orbital activity. That lack of infrastructure makes costs much higher.

The only nation which needs to reduce its CO2 emissions by 43% is China. It's weird how the #1 emitter of CO2 in the world for 17 years in a row is never singled out for blame.

The biggest red flag to me is how the activists demand Western countries must cut CO2 output even more while completely ignoring how China is the #1 emitter of CO2 in the world, and has been for 17 years in a row. If CO2 output is so bad, then the activists should be screaming at China most of all. But they aren't. That suggests the activists are either wholly ignorant of the CO2 output data, or they are deliberately letting China off the hook.

@AtheismF7W Nuclear fission is not perfect, but it can be done safely and efficiently. I personally doubt fusion is ever going to be a viable power source. Fission is vastly easier to achieve technically than is fusion.

@Bluewson and time is running out Is it though? Lots of doomsayers out there, but little in the way of certainty that such predictions are correct. There is plenty about the climate we do not understand. There are also solutions which do not involved vastly reorganizing our planet, solutions which are actually technically achievable. A solar shade positioned between the Earth and Sun, set to filter out some of the infrared light, would reduce the amount of heat reaching the Earth. That shade idea might sound like science fiction, but it's entirely doable with our current technology if the money and will was there to do it.

Furthermore, here is per capita CO2 emissions in 1990 compared to 2021: 16.006 vs. 14.860 = Canada (0.928) 2.069 vs. 8.727 = China (4.218) Canada's per capita CO2 emissions in 2021 were 7% below its 1990 amount, while China's has more than quadrupled.

China pumps out more CO2 in a day than does Canada in three weeks. I await the imposition of a carbon tax on China.

Trace CO2 levels are why the Earth is not at temperatures equivalent to the Moon. It's not the nitrogen nor the oxygen in the atmosphere which warms the planet beyond what it should be based on its distance from the Sun. It's the small portion of greenhouse gases which do that. Earth escaped multiple 'Snowball Earth' episodes due to the build up of CO2 in the atmosphere from volcanoes. That said, I do not believe the doomsayer climate activists for the simple reason that if CO2 output is so bad, then the activists should be screaming at China most of all, seeing as China has been the #1 emitter of CO2 in the world for 17 years in a row. But the activists don't scream at China. They don't even mention it. That hypocrisy wrecks their credibility.

@rodkeh Physics proves there is no such thing as a GHG! Now that's just a moronic statement. Why do people who want to oppose climate change policies so often resort to the stupidest of arguments? There are so many good ones they could make, but they choose the dumbest. It's so damned irritating. Pick the GOOD arguments and use them.
