Welcome to the club. Some of us long-time members gave up on the news media years ago. In the internet age, you can go directly to the source data and examine it for yourself -- the middlemen in media and politics are no longer needed.

COVID may be gone by then. It remains to be seen if COVID has permanently displaced influenza, or if the flu will stage a return and push COVID to the margins.

@leroilapue15 To be fair, it does seem the COVID vaccines are useful in high-risk groups -- those primarily being the elderly. Virus cases and deaths among LTC residents in Ontario dropped to nearly zero at the end of February, and have remained there since. But outside of high-risk groups, the efficacy of the vaccines is far less definitive.

@michaelbruno1666 The non-LTC case fatality rate in Ontario is actually LOWER in the spring wave than it was during the winter wave (0.65% versus 0.84%). LTC cases and deaths are down over 95% during the spring wave versus the winter wave. Non-LTC cases are up 25.2% in the spring yet deaths are 3.9% lower. This is according THE ONTARIO GOVERNMENT'S OWN DATA.
