It spent roughly $3 billion to develop the VT fuze. It spent about $30 billion on the strategic bombing campaign over Europe. This gives an idea of the scale of industrial and monetary resources the United States devoted to the war effort.

  2.  @Safetytrousers  That was a steam explosion, caused by the rapid build up of the cooling water being converted to steam by the excess heat. The Chernobyl reactor also had no containment dome, a feature found in Western nuclear reactors, which is what allowed the radioactive material to be spread.

  3. The Angry Astronaut channel has a lot of decidedly uncomplimentary things to say about Boeing's efforts. It seems like a disaster/money sink in the making.
