and Russia has proven itself to be the worst European army , imagine ,much smaller Ukraine held it off for nearly 3 years and bloodied it. and the Russians had to callt he North koreans to help out, embarassing.

@martstam2016 and that was when the Japanese were surrendering. and the Soviet army was more competent than the current Russian army, even more highly motivated.

@martstam2016 well the Ukraine war is akin to teh Russo Japanaese war of 1904 to 1905 but a more hyper version of it. Russia had a much bigger GDP than Japan 10X or more, the RUssian military as a whole was much bigger than Japan, Russia had a population of 150 million at the time, Japan had a population of 47 million. also land mass Russia had a much bigger land mass than Japan which back then included what is now Poland, Finland, the former USSR states etc. By all accounts Russia should have crushed Japan esp., in the land war. but nope it got beaten by Japan however the Japanese by near end of the war was already experiencing manpower problems while the Russians still had plenty of manpower but were afriad to deploy their more elite troops from European Russia in fears of possible war with Germany.

@martstam2016 the Czar nicholas II also had a weak will a lot weaker than Putin, and did not have the will and stomach to continue the war with Japan, if Russia had done so and put their better quality troops to the east they would havbe won the land battles and possibly even conquered Korea from the Japanese or at least recapture Port Arthur but nope. also Japanese were also near bankrupt by end of the war.

@pcread how about a 1917 history lesson, took out the Czar after losing to the Germans gave up and did civil war. Or how about withdrawing from Afghanistan and Chechnya

@ailinofaolin8897 is this the same Russian army who was peacocking for decades to be the strongest army in the world with year of expereince defeating different types of enemies hahaha, NATO would kick Russia's ass anytime, RUssia pissing its pants when thinking of fighting NATO.

@martstam2016 however what you have in the Ukraine war is Russia having a GDP 10X that of UKraine, a military that has 10X the firepower vs. Ukraine, and 5X the population. land mass Russia is much bigger than Ukraine. so by all accounts, Russia should have beaten Ukraine conventionally in at most a year, but Ukraine has resistend and stalemated Russia for nearly 3 years now inflicting nearly 700K casualties and tens of thousands of destroyed military vehicles, Ukraine has sunk dozens of Russian ships despite not having a navy. and Ukraine is even bombing the Russian mainland with impunity even hitting Moscow ith drones that the so called vaunted Russian air defenses cannot shoot down. Also Russian military is 85 percent committed to Ukraine and its so bad the Russians got a large chunk of their territory seized by the Ukrainians in a week and 3 months now they cant kick them out and are calling the NOrht Koreans for help. Its that bad and embarassing.

@martstam2016 well comparabvle as to the capabilities on both sides, yah the Ukrainian diaspora they like to cheer on the sidelines not come home to fight. Same with the RUssians, RUssian diaspora never came back at all to fight so the RUssians got volunteers from poor nations to be suckers to be meat .
