  1. Why? because Putin is desperate to win or at least something that he can spin as a victory to the Russians. Its his own hide he is concerned with. Heck I bet he will sacrifice millions of Russians to survive politically because if he loses the war(or perceived to have lsot the war by his own people), he is KAPUT.

I think this war will end in 2026, with the victory of Joe Biden in the 2024 USA elections. with a Biden victory, the oligarchs will know that the Russian economy and the Putin regime political stability cannot stand another 4 years of war in Ukraine. so they will move to salvage whatever is left of the Russian economy , they will probably remove Putin from power dead or alive. I think Ukraine will get back all of its lost territories including Crimea. since the new post putin Russian gov will want all economic sanctions lifted, relations with the west back to normal and leaving ukraine totally is a major step to that.
