My opinion Putin will never rename this special military operation into a war since if its a special military operation he can end it at any time and declare vicotyr, easilly, if its a war nope its harder since he has to do negotiations etc. with a special military operation he does not have to negotiate.

As for escalating the war due to this, yah Putin can escalate by using chemicals and nukes, that will just increase aid to Ukraine much more than it is already and risk war with NATO along with total sanctions on Russia. THis is more of pandering to the Russian audience getting them outraged enough to be motivated to fight in Ukraine. nope wont work
