I think the real goal for the west is to weaken the Russians to a point but not to have the collapse of the Russian regime and go into civil war in Russia. I think the west wants a weak Russia but stable enough that they can exploit it. and No putin in charge So far yes the Russian military and economy has been much weakened. but Putin is still in charge but he is old in his early 70s and probably wont last very long. and Russia is stable but wont be engaged in a war esp. with NATO as the Ukraine war has proved the Russian military is a paper tiger.
