  1. Russian "best" these days would be equal to a Russian regular army unit pre war. in the Soviet parlance a Soviet B class unit. a second line unit. Probably trained a few months before being sent to teh front. Their front line units the best trained pre war have been decimated, their best trained VDV, Marine and Spetsnaz all decimated. Heck they even have Spetsnaz units manned almost entirely by conscripts, Russian marine units manned by sailors just trianed for a week or less. or hey how about VDV airborne manned by conscupts who dont even have airborne training. and have essentaily been turned into a B class motorized rifle unit. the majority of the current standing Russian army 95 percent who are in Ukraine would be categorized as C class units, near the bottom of the barrell. heck the Donbass recruits , their convict penal Z units would be classified as mobilization only units which are even blow Class C units , these would be armed with vintage weapons, T-55s, heck even WW2 weapons as we have seen Donbass recruits use, and convict penal units using AKs from the soviet afghan war. of the 80s.
