The Dutch police has most of what is mentioned in this video. It's just sitting in a storage unit being unused most of the time because we don't have the same level of problems as the United States does.

Being dutch myself; we have all of this. The Dutch were actually one of the first police forces in the world with a militarized division (Bijzondere Bijstandseenheid, today called DSI). And our riot police (Mobiele eenheid) has the same weapons as in the United States (water cannons, tear gas, rubber bullets). And in the United States you will also find police officers patrolling on bicycles in major cities.

@H. Veltman Well, it's a smaller country so it's more easily to organize. We have 6 teams that can be ready anywhere in the country within 30 minutes. We also have a military police that does carry MP5 machine guns that protect high risk places like airports. However, I do agree that the United States as a country is just on a higher level when it comes to violence. Both from the perspective of the criminals and the police. An American police officer is much more likely to face violence and therefore will react more violently.

The problem with weed is simply the fact that it is illegal and by consuming it, you are directly funding criminal organisations who make your city and country less safe (gang violence, damage and risks related to illegal production, young teens being pushed to sell drugs and ruin their chances of a normal life). When weed would be legal and the production and distribution would no longer be in the hands of criminal organisations, I would be fine with it.

@shammes95 We have migrants from Muslim countries who have a similar position in society when it comes to their influence on the crime statistics. But even they rarely create situations that require the police to behave a like a paramilitary unit.
