Let us all not forget that this women represents only a small group of ignorant, extremely conservative idiots and that this is in no way the opinion of the majority of all Christians or the fundamentals of the Christian church, in the same way that Muslim extremists do not represent the real Islam.

  2. John Howard Well, religious fundamentals change with time. The Bible and Quran are written roughly 2000 years ago and their rules and stories do not always apply to the views of today's society anymore.  Religious texts can be a useful guideline for a philosophical basis to everyday life, but should not be followed to the letter.

  3. Keith Ellerby For the same reason christian fundamentalists can hold back change in the united states. Groups of religious conservatives will strongly oppose any change, simply because they find it against their believes. The discussions on abortion and gay rights in the US are no different from the discussions on female rights and physical punishments in the middle east.  And lets not forget that not all middle eastern countries are equally conservative, take Turkey or the UAE for example!
