This only works for freelance workers. During the pandemic we had several employees who wanted to do this. However, by doing work while in another country (even if it's online for another country), you need to pay income taxes in said country. Meaning that your employer will need to set up a separate tax administration for coworkers living and working in Indonesia to pay taxes there. Which is generally just not worth the effort.

@Accuface2000 If you are doing your work from within the borders of another country, the host country is entitled to tax you for the money that you are earning. If you arrive on a tourist visa but you are working in that country you are not following the law. Chances that they find out might be slim, but if they find out (for example, because you are posting on social media about it) there is a chance that they will come after you for not reporting your taxes and visa fraud. I understand very well what being a Digital Nomad is about, you don't understand the complexity of international tax law.

@Accuface2000 digital nomads are a new concept and national laws haven’t adapted to this concept yet. You might see in the future that this might change. But for now, your safest bet is to fly under the radar. Or maybe check tax treaties between your home country and the country you are visiting. Perhaps they might actually be favorable for you. Paying 25% doesn’t sound to bad to me if that means I’m not paying taxes in my home country.
