@The car enthusiast - Vincent Read "The Millionaire next door", most rich people live a modest lifestyle because that enables them to become rich in the first place (earn a lot, spend little). For Dough, I would say he spends a disproportionate amount of money on his cars, because that's his business. So he has less money to spend on other things (like his cloths).

@venom5809 I wouldn't say it's BS, but I also don't see the book as a pathway to becoming a millionaire. But there are many older people who have indeed accumulated huge amounts of wealth just by living modestly. Especially in property values. Both my grandparents have houses that are currently valued over one million Euro's and no mortgage, despite one of my grandmothers having been a teacher all her life. And yes, I certainly agree that some people spend things just differently. Everybody knows that Warren Buffet still lives in a modest house, but very few people know he also has a beach house in California worth 100MLN+. Or that Bill Gates is a collector of exotic cars and frequently charters mega yachts for his vacations. But I certainly believe there are plenty of older people who just happened to become rich by living modest, or holding on to a piece of property in the right location for all of their lives.
