  1. Another argument from personal experience; the reputation of a car isn't everything. A car's reliability really depends on how a car has been used and maintained and even then there is still a black box. Therefore I often find it better to buy a used car with a bad reputation where this is already factored into the price over paying a premium for a car that's good on paper, but within a year becomes a money pit anyways. I have had bad experiences with a low millage Volkswagen and Toyota while I know people who have driven old Range Rover Sports, Maseratti Quattroporte's and Bentley Continentals without any serious problems...
