  1. Most of what Doug's saying isn't true for Europe. It's a fairly simple vehicle without too many modern stuff that can break. And what can break is easy to replace (if you have a bit of mechanical experience you can probably fix a lot of stuff yourself even). In Europe at least, parts are plentiful and easy to find. Also a used Defender can still be bought for under 10K, although I must admit that this was significantly less not that long ago. I do fully agree with the driving experience. In the end it's a very utilitarian vehicle. You drive it because you want to cross the African savanna's or simply because you live on a farm! It makes no sense to have this car when you live in a wealthy suburb.
