I'm still reluctant towards electric cars for the same reason. I don't feel like the technology and infrastructure are quite there yet. It's okay if you mostly make short trips and can charge your car in your own driveway. But I don't have a driveway and most of my trips are 200 KM round trips so I would be charging almost daily. Plus, I now drive a 30K Ford Focus where most EV's that I would seriously consider start at 60K.

I think this joke really just applies to McDonalds in the United STates. I have noticed that McDonalds is a lot more crappy in it's home country than in Europe or asia, where the restaurants usually look significantly nicer.

I do think this is a real issue in the United States yes, I recall Doug Demuro calling a Mercedes C Class "a car for a fresh university graduate". In Europe, you just got promoted to middle management in order to afford a car like this.

One thing I am noticing; If you are part of the lower class, you get subsidies and social housing and a lower tax burden. So even though before taxes I am earning maybe 500-1000 euro's more a month, than my working class friends, after taxes that difference is reduced to maybe 100-200 euro's. And I'm one of the lucky few because my parents bought me a house. I have friends with similar or better jobs than me who are asking me if I want to rent out rooms to them because the housing market is squeezing them.

@MrDuncl I wouldn't say a normal C-class would qualify for that, unless we are talking a 6.3 AMG version. But yeah, when I was younger, I knew a couple of guys who had heavily modified cars and they needed special high risk insurance in order to drive that car.
