@kil2250 It is a red vote, or at least half of one. The fact that you can look at the current SCOTUS and still say it's not is mind boggling. Voting for a disappointing candidate to keep a destructive candidate from winning is worthwhile. If you don't want a disappointing candidate, you fix that in the primaries, not the general.

@6starphantom349 Not enough people did. That's the problem. It's not the DNC's fault that after the candidates consolidated, the Bernie people got outvoted by the Biden people.

Creating a third major party in the US would be incredibly difficult, since we have first-past-the-post voting and a highly nationalized, highly partisan political climate. No one's willing to risk letting the "bad party" win, so they'll always vote for the "good party", thus locking in the same two major parties forever. The more likely change is that the Democratic Party eventually becomes left wing.

"We will lose, and I'll make sure of it!" (But yes, you're absolutely right.)

I like Katie Porter. I've heard a lot of people say Sheldon Whitehouse and Jamie Raskin. Maybe John Fetterman? It should be someone who promotes progressive ideas, not in a "capitalism is bad and we need to overhaul it" way, but in a "these ideas just make sense" way. Voters seem to like progressive policies. They just don't like the radical messaging that often comes with them.

She's a woman. All kidding aside, I think it's just that she's a House rep and not that well known. I think people would love her once they see more of her.

Vermin Supreme with that Santa Claus guy from Alaska as VP. Supreme/Claus 2024!

In our defense, we all said Biden and Trump were terrible before they got elected too lol.

@corpsefoot758 If caring about how people vote is shitlib propaganda, then our country is fucked. I want progressives to win elections. We don't accomplish that by peddling conspiracy theories. We accomplish that by figuring out why people don't vote for us, and then we use that knowledge to convince them to vote for us.

@corpsefoot758 To be fair, a lot of it was stuff that happens in every election for both parties - candidates lying, media smear, corporate donations, a coalition getting behind one candidate. If it makes you feel better, we'll call the rest of it actual conspiracies. That doesn't change the fact that the voters were given the choice between Hillary and Bernie in 2016, and Biden and Bernie in 2020, and they chose Hillary and Biden. If you want to learn nothing from that and just complain about DNC machinations every 4 years, be my guest. I want wins. And insisting that Bernie should've won doesn't help us get wins.

I feel like they called Biden's nomination pretty early.

John Fetterman? Sheldon Whitehouse? To be fair, Barack Obama won quite handily as a minority.

I would say if we're primarying a sitting President, he's probably not popular enough to win the general anyway. No one did this to Obama, because Obama did a decent job. We can't ignore the fact that Biden is super unpopular. Nominating him in 2024 would be a disaster.
