@obamavariant9128 Electric cars? High speed rail? Technology improves and that often makes things cheaper. And it's not like the rest of the world isn't also agreeing to reduce emissions.

To play devil's advocate here, all of those scenarios start with a significant drop in food production and we haven't seen that yet. We can't really say we're on track for any of these until that happens.

@Oners82 True, though resources are always dropping. I don't think that's enough proof to say any of these models is correct. The first event that would be different from current trends is food production leveling off and then dropping to some degree. The idea of the population getting too big for food production to handle has been around for centuries, yet we haven't run into that problem yet. This is the same principle, just with more stuff added. The climate problem is still a huge deal and I like the idea of degrowth. I support the things that would take us to the SW model. I'm just skeptical of the impending societal/economic collapse. We'd need to get further in the timeline before I'd say we're on track for something like that.
