Hospitalizations in Florida have doubled in the last 2 weeks. And deaths tend to lag behind cases by a couple of weeks. Also, death reports are processed more slowly during holidays. We won't have a good sense of the deaths until mid-January.

@andremichaels3804 Total US deaths increased by 529,000 from 2019 to 2020, and the 2021 numbers are on pace to match 2020's. That's a million excess deaths. The Covid numbers are not inflated.

That could just be the normal two-week lag between case trends and death trends.

He kinda didn't leave it up to them though. He banned businesses from having mandates, and schools from requiring masks. He made the choice for them.

@blogintonblakley2708 Nationwide hospitalizations are up about 70% since mid-November. Deaths got to 35% more than the late-November dip, and have dropped off a bit recently. But I'm guessing that has more to do with the holiday reporting delay than actual Covid patterns. Deaths will likely be back up next week. And deaths tend to lag behind cases by about two weeks. So when we're in the middle of a case spike, the corresponding deaths haven't happened yet.
