But they aren't even getting the 7 sick days

Cosigning what Dan said. I've worked in fast food, where you'd just call in sick or have someone work for you, and you wouldn't get paid. And I've worked as a software tester, where you got something like 6 paid sick days a year (they did roll over with no maximum balance) and you'd just email the team that you were sick and you'd have the day off. It's all up to the employer. And yes, there's a cultural tendency to just work when sick, because a lot of businesses schedule just enough people to function properly, so calling out sick makes things worse for your coworkers. We have a very unhealthy relationship with work here.

The policy that got through Congress is the one he supported.

Why would they? Republicans voted to force the contract on them too.

@Jason_P I have my doubts, but we'll see what he ends up doing.

That was also bad. Having a government that constantly goes against unions isn't good for any of us.
2
Then why did the straight white men in the Republican Party (plus Joe Manchin) also vote against the sick days? Does everything have to be some kind of culture war grievance with you people?
2
How does one boycott a rail freight company? I don't think the people at Target will know what company shipped each product.
2
Why do we always ignore the fact that Republicans are also neoliberal? Dems aren't allowed to shaft the workers, but the GOP gets away with it every time.
2
Giving the workers a few sick days really shouldn't be a problem then.

@garygagnon5057 I'm totally fine with government workers getting paid time off. Everyone should get paid time off.

It was bipartisan in the most technical sense. Both houses had a majority vote in favor of the sick days bill. Only one Democratic Senator opposed it. Calling it a bipartisan no is really disingenuous framing.

It needed fixing before Biden. Nothing changed. So it still needs fixing.

We'll see how you feel about that after 2 more years of Republicans campaigning. I would've loved to not vote for Biden in 2020, but keeping Trump out became too important.
1
I dare the next Republican president to negate it. We need to make Republicans actively oppose more good things instead of assuming the good things will fail.

@Honorbound43 So then the executive order is an acceptable fix.
