All of Trump's judicial appointments have been people the establishment wants, his main legislative accomplishment was a tax cut for corporations and the rich, he significantly raised the military budget every year, and hasn't ended any of our forever wars. Trump is as establishment as it gets. He just comes with the added bonus of threatening our democracy.

  5.  @pgtmr2713  Like the 11 instances of obstruction in the Mueller report, which were clearly unethical? Or the whole Stormy Daniels thing? The fact that he's using the presidency to siphon money into Mar-a-Lago, Doral, and all his other properties? Or his tax returns, which almost certainly show that he's committing tax fraud?

  6.  @pgtmr2713  I didn't say anything about the dossier, or the bulk of the Mueller report. I'm talking about the obstruction. Are you claiming that all 11 allegations of Trump trying to obstruct the investigation are lies? And if the President isn't hard up for money, why do his tax returns keep reporting losses? Why won't he pay his fair share of taxes like everyday Americans do?

  7. American politics is also far right though, even compared to America a few decades ago. In the 1960s and 1970s, we seriously discussed having universal healthcare. In 2020, even our left party refuses to put it in their platform.

  9. I would say you're underestimating how bad Trump can get. What we see now is a Trump that needs to get votes. He's all but promised to challenge the election results if he doesn't win, he's encouraging violence against the left, gun sales have gone way up, and 40% of both parties' supporters think violence will be necessary to sort things out during/after the election. This is with Well Behaved Trump in power. What do things look like when Trump has nothing to lose, and has a Supreme Court that will likely uphold anything he does? I'd rather not find out. Biden at least fulfills the bare minimum of American politics - trusting the voting process.

  10.  @justicewalking  The racists existed before Trump too, but they never felt as empowered as they do now. We're moving dangerously fast toward a civil war, and Trump just continues pour gas on the fire, so to speak. Trump doesn't have water in his arsenal, only gasoline. He's a divider. What we need now is a calming force to say that of course our elections are fair, racism is bad, doctors understand how diseases work, etc. That won't completely get rid of racists and conspiracy theorists, but it does make them quieter and less influential. If being commander-in-chief was the only thing the President did, I agree that I'd rather have Trump. But that aspect of the presidency is a pretty low priority for me right now with all the other stuff going on. As for the leftist movement, said movement didn't really exist before 2016. We don't know what effect a Biden presidency will have on it. But I think it's reasonable to expect the movement to keep going; it's not like we actually like Joe Biden.

  13.  @595goldy  That's a hell of a Gish gallop. I'm not interested in having 5 simultaneous arguments tangential to your original comment, so I'll try this again. Trump says the ballots counted after the 3rd will be fraudulent. Trump also says that absentee ballots are valid. But many of the votes counted after the 3rd will be absentee ballots, given that they also arrive through the mail and that most states aren't even doing universal mail-in voting. So which thing is Trump lying about? Are absentee ballots fraudulent? Or will the votes counted after the 3rd be mostly valid?
