  4. We had both SARS and MERS in the 21st century. It's not that big of a stretch to say there might be another coronavirus in a few years that we'll need to worry about.

  5. The 2019-2020 flu season had between 24,000 and 62,000 deaths. COVID deaths are not "way lower". I assume you're talking about the comorbidities thing. If you're alive with a pre-existing condition, and then you get COVID and die, you were killed by COVID. It doesn't magically not count. Most flu deaths also happen to old and immunocompromised people, and we still count all of those. Finally, the total number of deaths since February 1st, from all causes, is about 250,000 more than we'd expect in a normal year. If COVID isn't the reason, where are all these deaths coming from?

  6.  @collinmanahan7042  I've done my research. All you're saying is you feel like most COVID deaths shouldn't count, but you don't apply the same standard to the flu deaths. And the labeled cause of death is irrelevant for the excess death count. 250,000 excess deaths. Why did those happen?

  7.  @collinmanahan7042  All my numbers are from the CDC, dude. You're just failing to understand how comorbidities work. The 94% of COVID deaths with comorbidities are still real deaths. And you have yet to address the excess deaths. 250 thousand. If they aren't COVID deaths, what are they?

  10.  @dennisglenn9475  Yep, that's the one. I'm not claiming the Democrats are perfect, or even good. But saying they've done absolutely nothing to help people is incorrect. The $600 unemployment boost in particular was super helpful.

  11. I don't know if Trump is against them, but I think he's less in favor of them than Biden is. Of course, you own a lot of other baggage with a Trump vote. Otherwise, the Libertarians and Greens are both heavily against regime change wars. They might be better options for you.

  13.  @joeamie12  Of course the police endorse Trump, because Trump panders to them while Biden wants them to be accountable when they suck. As for Jacob Blake, I agree there are more blameless police victims we could be glorifying, but I will say it looked like he was moving slowly enough that a couple of officers could've restrained him (the shooter was literally grabbing his shirt). At the very least, shoot him once or twice and not seven times. The Kenosha policeman was excessive and should be charged with something.

  14. The 2.2 million death projection was assuming we did literally nothing about COVID. The most common one was 100,000 to 200,000 deaths. I remember 60,000 being touted a lot too. And David shows the comparison graph all the time. If you look at Canada, Australia, Spain, France, Italy, etc, some of them hada big early wave, but have gotten their cases and deaths very low. Meanwhile, the U.S. was on the right track but got bored halfway through, and now we're hovering at a not-small rate of death. Trump fought with the governors more than supporting them, constantly looking for reasons not to send PPE to New York, for example. Jared Kushner's "This is the federal stockpile, not the states' stockpile" is a personal favorite. The governors deserve all the credit for the drop in cases and deaths that we did have.
