There's literally a study on that, you could run the chips at 90c and then use forced air cooling instead of wasting water and energy. But then you have a performance drop of 10%.

The irony is that it uses absurd amounts of energy that comes from oil drilling, that's even worse ! There's 10 million people living in a place where its only possible for 100k at most, and they already drained all of the potable water, there's none left. Its going to be literally Dune there. I already collect PDFs, I wish I could collect books. But I have a solution for that, its basically a computer made of discrete circuits that I can repair. Its tech from 1980, and I can power it with biodiesel. (sorry, fossil fuels aren't going away, they are going to come back and the globalized world goes down)

@theanode sure, SEO techniques is a cat and mouse, but google is optimized for the "ads", not for the actual function of searching. heck, its probably even worse for those buying ads, I bet the click-through ratio is going down and down, as google profits more and more, eventually you're paying for ads, and none are actually being displayed, and you can't even know because google owns all data brokers that do telemetry, its a perfect crime !

That doesn't solve the problem, they use liquid cooling internally, but its not a closed loop system. The evaporative cooling is used to interface with the atmosphere, because they measure efficiency in the ratio of power usage on the actual servers vs cooling machinery. So there's a strong incentive to do that and actually spend energy on the servers, which is what produce profit for their bottom line. So the water system be damned.
