I feel like it would only stand up in court if vehicle manufacturers actually allowed you to use the car without all of the extra features beyond the basic legal requirements (wipers, headlights, hvac). Your contract has you buy the car, the implied warranty of merchantability is that you'll be able to use the car. If you must also agree to the EULA to use the car, and you don't agree to wanting to use the software, then it breaks basic contract law.

@brianwest2775 A lot of motherboards these days actually have 2 BIOS ROMs and a switch to switch for this reason.

@JustinDaniels I would argue that the only reason backup cameras are legally required is so that on Trucks and SUVs, where they're a hazard to the road without one, users won't get upcharged when asking them to be available.
