@sarapetion I understand. Even though I'm 70+ and immuno-suppressed by other meds I wasn't in a hurry to get it, thinking we didn't have enough hard evidence about side effects yet. i thought it over but didn't take too long about it: When the clinic I use invited me to a mass vaccination I went for it and never had any serious misgivings. And even when I still wasn't sure, I never trusted the judgement of ANYONE who'd display himself online flaunting the kind of blustering know-it-all swagger this guy was parading. After seeing the gleeful way he was verbally bullying the online audience I wasn't surprised at all to learn he was also physically bullying prisoners. He revealed himself as a mental sicko long before he got sick physically.

This is America: Cops aren't immune to Covid but they ARE generally immune from accountability and any obligation to behave responsibly. The police unions are their vaccine and effectiveness is 80-90% or more.

Either way they don't screen them out. Not here in the USA anyhow; they do overseas where folks still live in civilization.

@Catnipfumar Not sure if you're saying 2million deaths weren't enough and the vaccines shouldn't have been developed, but in any case it's too late: Most people are immunized.

@Catnipfumar Haven't followed up the NatGeo link yet but if it says horseshoe crabs are going extinct because of vaccines I'll certainly support efforts to protect them. Didn't know about the synthetic alternative so thanks for that and I'm never surprised by any news that Big Pharma or any other part of the healthcare industry is both insensitive and cynically greed-driven. Thanks to the fact I'm vaccinated, I hope to be alive awhile longer to deplore these wrongs. And I'm not assaulting others by going around unvaccinated and unmasked like a walking loaded human gun.

@carlathelibra4228 Just visited her channel and checked out her videos. Not a bot, just a laid-back stoner chick who loves animals and the outdoors. Her views don't exactly coincide with mine (see my two replies to her if you wish) but she clearly means no one any harm.

@stetfhoneshields6862 Actually I wasn't talking about the military so much as our society as a whole; most of us just don't give these men and women the support they deserve and need when they're re-entering civilian life. The VA is doing a better job than it used to after getting a lot of scrutiny over denying PTSD cases wholesale for a number of years. Society as a whole, however, is still dropping the ball. Edit: Hey wait, I just scrolled back and found that my reply about the troops wasn't even in this thread. All I posted here was about police recruiting and training. The comment about how shitty we treat the vets was on a whole other video.

@stetfhoneshields6862 I agree. The sooner the problems are addressed the better the chances of recovery. Actually my concern in this thread was with police recruiting that lets in applicants who are attracted to the job because (1) they get to carry a gun and (2) they get to make people do as they tell them. These types aren't focused on doing the job in a law-abiding way, they're more attracted by the chance to feel powerful.

@stetfhoneshields6862 Policing does have better screening in European countries where brutality and police shootings are rare. We could do it here as well if law enforcement leadership were willing to visit civilization and pick up some pointers.
