  1. Most Republicans are reactionary not conservative. That Georgetown mayor is conservative and that's the difference between him and the norm for the party.

  2. Laura LaDoux: the Republican party WAS once made up of actual conservatives like that mayor instead of the extremists who dominate the party now. That's how it was in the 50s when I was too young to vote. If they were in charge of the party now I still wouldn't vote with them but I miss them just the same.
