That is the point really, we are so far apart ideologically in the US between the Far Left Urban areas and Right leaning everywhere else that we cannot coexist any longer, it is time we peacefully separated before it turns into a bloody civil war, have the large urban leftist areas be semi independent city states like Hong Kong was supposed to be (before the CCP stepped in), we can try to share a common defense and foreign policy as a union, that is about the best we can hope for, the seething hatred we have for each other is going to explode if we are forced to stay together. The two groups living together is like asking the Conservative Nationalist Traditionalist Poles to live with the authoritarian Communist Chinese, it just cannot work.
