Many in Canada outside far left Ontario and Quebec have openly talked about it for years or just becoming independent from those two provinces.

Wrong, Canada outside Ontario and Quebec is right wing to centrist depending on the province, imagine the US minus California and New York. We could accept all of Canada except those two provinces and we would have added more conservatives then liberals, a net gain for the US, especially considering lefties that are outside Ontario and Quebec would flee to those two provinces if the others did join the US.

Adding to their misery is Puerto Rico is moving right and if Canada joined the US that likely would not include the two big left leaning provinces Ontario and Quebec, it would be all the right leaning and moderate provinces, the Canadian equivalents of Texas, Iowa, Maine etc.

I am very OK with it as long as we do not allow Ontario or Quebec to join, they are Canada's version of California and New York. Quebec can be a independent French speaking country like many there want and Ontario can be what is left of Canada. Alberta is politically Texas North and Saskatchewan and Manitoba are politically like Nebraska and Iowa. The low population Atlantic provinces politically are like Maine, generally moderate left but they have swung right before. British Colombia outside Vancouver is like Montana politically, Vancouver is like Seattle. The Yukon territory and Northwest territory are politically like Minnesota but are not even provinces yet because they have so few people, Nunavat territory has even less people and never will be a province due to so little population, basically its just Eskimos but its a bridge to Greenland for the US as is the Atlantic provinces. Honestly I think its something to explore, the Canadian parliamentary system causes everyone outside Lower Ontario and maybe Quebec to not even have a voice in how the country is run, they would have a much bigger say with our system especially our Senate. If it happened we would be adding more conservative than liberal voters because of provinces like Alberta, many of the lefties in places like Vancouver would immediately relocate to Toronto or Ottawa.
