Keep in mind the various tribal police and local LE jurisdictions can vary greatly, where I am from tribal and sheriff both have total LE authority on both sides of the border, tribal officers come off the reservation to answer an emergency call if they are closest and vice versa. Then there is Oklahoma which has a completely different tribal forms of government.

  2. Navajo language is in pretty good shape, some Whites that grow up on the reservation border even speak it.

  3. Where I am from the tribe and local White population always got along great, neither group was fond of outsiders though, lol. The Tribal Police and Sheriff's Office agreed to cross jurisdiction, whoever is closest to the emergency goes, if a 911 call comes in for a robbery at the country store off reservation but a Tribal Police unit is closest they respond, if there is a call on the reservation and a Deputy Sheriff is closest they respond, both have full LE authority throughout the county which is the way it should be for public safety.
