  3. I am a native Oregon, I knew of this but the level of damage and lives lost were never properly communicated by my teachers. May I suggest another Oregon tragedy that should be remembered, the 1894 Silver Lake Christmas fire. The small town was having its annual Christmas party with hundreds in attendance at a ballroom on a upper floor, one door only in or out and the door swung inwards, the staircase collapsed, 40 died and more than that horrifically burned, the heroics of towns folk and local cowboys was incredible, riding over a hundred miles in a blizzard to get doctors to come.

  6. I believe little Mitchell in Central Oregon had a similar flash flood event but its a much smaller town
