I was a firefighter for over fifteen years, I can say these firefighter pilots are crazy in a good way, I have seen the bomber pilots fly into a smoke filled canyon and just disappear in the smoke, all you hear is the roar of the engines, I have no idea how they navigate, then out they come on the other side. As a firefighter on the ground you do not want to be hit with retardant because its a sticky mess and if it comes out in a lump(which on rare instances it can) it can kill you, I was on a fire where that happened.
