Outrageous lady, try looking at facts! Handguns are used in 98% of gun crime, ALL rifles and shotguns in just 2%, the AR is used in only a fraction of that 2% despite being the most common rifle in America, it is the most common because its the Swiss Army knife of rifles it can be used in certain types of hunting, excellent for home defense, great for recreational shooting, most common rifle for competition shooting etc. The term "assault rifles" is purely cosmetic it is based off 6 cosmetic features such as adjustable stock for comfort, pistol grip for comfort, bayonet lug (when was the last time a bayonet was used?) the gun must have 3 of the 6 features to be classified as an "assault rifle" numerous rifles like the iconic Ruger Ranch Rifle shoot the same ammo and have the exact same performance but are not considered "assault rifles" because they look like a normal old wood stock rifle, its all the " scary look" of a military rifle but without automatic or select burst fire, banning "assault rifles" would be like banning kit cars because they look like they go too fast! The last time we banned "assault rifles" gun crime with rifles actually went up a bit from before and when you compare the last full year of the ban to the last year with full data after the ban gun crime dropped with rifles more than 30% after the ban! Even the notoriously anti gun rights Washington Post published an article admitting an assault weapons ban statistically would do nothing to reduce gun crime.
