Now that is a gross overstatement, actually the county continues to grow at a rather fast pace, in fact it more than doubled in population between 1990 and 2020 thanks to large amounts of California retirees and right there is part of the problem, they have no children there and never become part of the community so they do not care. By the way convincing people of your point of view will rarely happen when you insult others.

  2. I train Search and Rescue dogs, one of the FEMA teams used to have a little terrier, not sure breed, maybe mixed, he was very small and he would go down into the rubble.

  3. I find this profoundly sad because I grew up there and love the county more than I have words for, I know a couple of those people you interviewed. The commissioner was right about when cutting budgets between something wonderful like libraries and something that prevents horrific tragedies like public safety is clear, we have the lesson of Josephine County next door who has cut public safety drastically and has had horrible tragedies that have made national news. I am not surprised it got turned down because so much of the counties population is now California retirees that have no children there or grandchildren and zero connection to the community, most live in a financial realm locals will never enter yet they vote things like this down. When I was a kid growing up there levies on anything almost always passed.
