Very interesting, I have both Finnish and Native American family. I think another group like that who had cultural similarities with Native American's including oppression and got along well are the Celts, specifically Highland Scots and Irish. I come from a very large county settled mostly by Highland Scots and Irish and they got along so well with the two tribes in the county that there were two incidents where they stood up against the military on behalf of the local tribes including moving them onto their ranches or helping them while they hid out in the forests from the military who wanted to relocate them. There was a lot of intermarriage. Cultural similarities like Clan and Tribal based cultures and cultures that held the land sacred almost magical in the case of the Celts and both obviously suffered oppression at the hands of the Anglo-Saxon people.

@nytn Not sure if Irish and Native would be considered Metis but the inter marriage of the two and Highland Scots is pretty common.
