Well, several studies I've seen show China (27.2%) , US (14.6%), and India (6.8%) at one, two, and three in annual carbon emissions. Though the US population is much smaller than China's and India's, many people in the US enjoy a higher standard of living. We all drive cars, travel by air, and in general, consume a lot of everything, all of which leads to more carbon emissions. The average American contributes much more carbon emissions than the average Chinese person plus the average Indian combined. Both China and India are undertaking massive efforts to deal with their carbon emissions, while Americans have been largely propagandized (you are a good example) into denial by their own government.

Everything Greta and George said was great IMO, but the reality of making it happen can be pretty harsh. Absolutely, we should plant all the trees possible, but will they grow? What's the success rate for replanted trees? Our transition off of fossil fuels will probably take decades, because our entire economic system depends on them. If we move too fast, the global economy will collapse.
The IPCC report is probably understated. The reality is much more dire. The oceans are warming and acidifying as they absorb more CO2 and heat from the atmosphere. The heat capacity of water is very high, so ocean temps have remained stable even as they absorbed more and more heat. I have no doubt that the oceans have slowed down climate warming for decades.
But now, the oceans are saturated with heat and are warming rapidly and there's no stopping it. The warming and acidifying oceans are destroying sea life and melting the Arctic, Antarctic, and Greenland ice, and tipping points have already been crossed, ie the loss of ice leads to more ocean warming, which in turn leads to more ice melting, and so on. In short, climate warming is now accelerating out-of-control. But, I'm not giving up. See you on the streets!
