  3. Cars save space for green? 🤣 Cars need roads, highways, and parking lots that take up huge amounts of space in cites, reducing space for homes, businesses, and even parks. In fact the reduced space cars induce combined with their high infrastructure cost is bankrupting cites and constant trillions in tax payer money. Plus car emission literally kill trees lol I’d your city is soul depressing it is because it was not built right, Likely due to the need for them to accommodate so many cars.

Nowhere in this video does he talk about banning cars from existing, instead he talks about ensuring cars are where cars need to be, so people can be where people need to be. I can’t live without a car in America, I have no other options to get anywhere, even a simple store trip takes 20 min of driving to get to at least, so much for land of the “free”

  7. How naive, if your going to have opinions on the subjects you don’t know about then please don’t spread them to others. Public transport is actually cheaper than everyone owning and maintaining their own car, plus massive road infrastructure costs. As Puroo pointed out, your cities crime problem is largely due to poor city design, which would be fixed by reducing cars and fixing them unlicensed transport. Also wouldn’t it be much easier to get home drunk if you could take a train? Cheaper, faster, and saver than a taxi.

We all need cars because our cites were influenced by car manufacturers to be designed to require them, if we change this and instead build public transport, waking/biking paths, and even better roads for cars. We would not be reliant on them anymore. But in order to do this we have to start by reducing car dependency by restricting where they can go, inducing demand for more sustainable modes of transport that are less reliant on greedy corporations.

  14. Necessary vehicles are still aloud where required, but you want be driving your jacked up truck to work everyday for the one time a year that you actually need to use it for a load.

The reason cars got so popular is because car manufacturers lobbied and used propaganda to make people think they were necessary, and for cites to be destroyed to accommodate them, they were just as forced onto people as the examples you used, a good example is when they lobbied to make “jaywalking” illegal because their cars were killing too many pedestrians, which of course was enforced with fines. Cars also don’t represent freedom, in America I am forced to use my car if I want to go anywhere, the closet decent grocery store is a 20 min drive, I have no freedom of choice to choose walking, biking, train, or car, that choice was made for me long ago and now I am a prisoner of car manufacturers, and oil companies.

  19. Trains are boring and don’t build hype to get investors, thus Elon doesn’t give 2 Fs about them as he only cares about profits. Look to your government if you want trains, too bad ours has been bribed and is so weak that our public projects can be interfered with by private entities. Example California HSR

  22.  @Aeoxander do you build your own cars, or get them from a company? Do you harvest your own fuel, or get it from a company? Do you pave your own roads, or get them from a company? Do you fix your own car, or do you have a company do it? Your literally arguing for the opposite of what you want, America is the king of having the population reliant on corporations, public transport, and cites designed to be walked and biked would reduce, not increase reliance on companies.

  30.  @clamato54  sorry for the jump, you mentioned solving problems with isms was not the answer, and that you wanted a specific problem to solve. I believe that all of our problems stem from improper wealth distribution which allows a few to get into power and control things such as how car dependent a country should be. And that the answer to this problem is as I previously stated.

You are correct, sort of, public transport in North America is terrible, primarily due to lack of funding, and poor city design that results in spread out cities to better accommodate cars, but cites are not for cars, they are for people. The addition of good public transport would allow us to reduce the space used my roads and parking lots, which would increase room for homes and small business, this would increase tax revenue, allowing for better public transport, and even more healing of the wounds highways, roads, and parking lots cut through our cities. Cars will still be around for those who need them, but it should not be the only reasonable option for the majority of travelers.

  32. Your not stuck inside the 15 min city, you can leave anytime by, walking, biking, train, or even car. The plan just ensures that if you don’t want to go somewhere far away then you don’t have too. Whereas in America if I need groceries, I have no choice but to get into my expensive car and drive 20 min to the store. You tell me which one sounds more freedom

  33.  @clamato54  in that case the problem is distribution of wealth, and the solution is giving control of the means of production to everyone instead of just the one man at the top. This would leave much greater chance for decisions to be made in the best interest of everyone, instead of to pad the wallets of a few.

  34.  @clamato54  the majority opinions are largely influenced by corporate propaganda which would also not be a thing under socialism, access to accurate information would indeed be crucial for such a system to work, but I believe proper education of the masses shouldn’t be a fairytale, but a reality.

  35. Actually that is capitalism, car manufacturers have money and thus can influence people and government for their own agenda, despite it hurting others. Socialism focuses primarily on quality of life for the majority, and would not let such things occur if implemented correctly.

  37.  @ElAnvaBar  try to search for a video about walkable cities vs car cites, I believe you will see the value, and community that it creates, everything seems bigger as there are less cars, and much more places to walk. I understand wanting to be close to nature, but not everyone can, cities are very important for preserving nature by keeping humans less spread out, along with many other benefits. If they are done right you will feel at home in them, or maybe country life is for you
