I'm still going to call it a Hyundai Genesis because it is a Hyundai Genesis. They're trying to do what Toyota did to Lexus however Toyota did a far better job and their reliability and quality were very high compared to Hyundai.

ironvista Yes I'm aware of that. With that being said their level of progression was far better than that of Hyundais and Kias. You do know that I don't have to like something, I'm allowed to dislike it and my reasons are valid. Like I said about Hyundai, great eco cars (like the Elantra Eco or Sonata Sport 2.0T) but less than great luxury or sport cars. Right now I can get a 2013 Genesis for around $16k Hyundai Certified. It was around $40k new... What does that tell you?

ironvista Yeah the first 90 days of service. What car breaks that fast? Mechanically they're fine with the exception of the engine issues with the 2.0T in the Sonatas but they have been involved in lots of recalls and the trim just falls apart on them. Price to value ratio is fantastic but stick to the cheap stuff. Let the Japanese, British, Germans and Americans do the luxury.

ironvista Like I said if I want a $20k eco car like an Elantra no problem as they're very good for the price. I'm not dropping $50k+ on a Hyundai.

ironvista I have an MB and it feels solid, doors thunk when I close it and rides/handles great. It's not as good a value proposition as the Genesis might present itself to be on paper but the feel is better in Euro cars and the one Lexus I drove, an LS430, was a brilliant full size car. These manufacturers nailed it. Hyundai is great at making eco cars and SUVs, my friend's 05 Tucson has 350,000kms on it and it's still going.

ironvista For a car to be good it needs to last the test of time. The first gen Genesis is hardly talked about and are dusting away on used lots for around $12k. Now $12k for a car that has 385HP is amazing but I wonder how many people wake up in the morning and say "Hey today I want a Genesis". The new design is great looking but they just don't jive with me.

ironvista I'm 26 so yeah young and of course never saw reviews of them way back. The thing is that Toyota already had a strong reputation for making reliable cars that didn't feel throw away at the time they rolled out Lexus. Their utilitarian trucks were also good. The LS400 was one of the quietest cars at the time so their first offering was setting a benchmark. The 1UZ motor was rock solid and one of the smoothest V8s and the car had more toys than the competitors (until the W140 S Class rolled out). The ES250 was kind of a joke but the ES300 was fantastic. Your last sentence is based off ignorance and reflects bad on you, it's not a slam at me BTW.

ironvista It's not on sale. It's priced to move and they still sit on the lot.

Joseon In Lol I'm being told to grow up for stating my opinion in a civil manner (unlike others on YT). Like I told that other guy I can dislike something. Look at the following the European and Japanese cars have. The same thing does not apply to Hyundai so why I would spend north of $50k for one is absurd. Like I also said if I need a basic compact car that sips fuel I'd consider a Hyundai but I'll stick to my MB thanks.
