@ugoe5268 We owned a 2008 Nissan Sentra. The car itself drove fine (nice ride and space) but of course the CVT blew up despite having 2 fluid changes performed on time at the dealership. It wasn't worth the cost of a new CVT unit so we sold the car as is to a shop. The 7 speed in my MB is fantastic. The 10 speed unit in our Tahoe is fantastic. There are much better geared TC automatics so any advantage CVTs once had, like allowing the engine to rev low at highway speeds, is gone as any good 7, 8, 9 or 10 speed unit does a far better job at performance and most importantly reliability. JATCO lawsuits, Nissan warranty claims and the thousands of forum pages of complaints can't all be a lie.

@bradleyscarreviews Well it was a safe assumption to make since Nissan wouldn't listen to their customer's for nearly 2 decades. CVTs themselves aren't really an issue in a basic car but the JATCO CVTs were total garbage in how they performed and in their reliability.

Still going to have that garbage CVT in it.

@Jonathan AA Look at the complaints of the CVT transmission specifically the JATCO transmissions. Nissan has pushed the CVT for so many years they basically ingrained in everyone's heads that eventually every vehicle will have a CVT. It's even bled into their Infiniti line. It was a safe assumption to make since they haven't listened to their customers over a decade ago.

@Jonathan AA I assumed it had a CVT because every time a new Nissan product other than the Titan, Frontier and 370Z it had a CVT. I wrote the comment prior to watching the video but again, given Nissan's track record it was a safe guess to make. Had this been 2014 and the new Rogue was coming out and I assumed it would have come out with a CVT guess what? I would be right. Great, the new one has a 9 speed transmission but it only took 2 decades of complaints, millions of warranty claims and lawsuits for Nissan to change up. Given that Nissan was that stubborn it was a safe assumption to make that they would never ditch the CVT.

@Jonathan AA Nissan should have gotten rid of their partnership/ownership of JATCO. They literally shoved a JATCO transmission when they could have put a reliable Aisin 6 or 8 speed unit in. When BMW releases many of their cars it's a safe assumption that the automatic models will have a ZF transmission because that's pretty much all they use. When the new X7 was coming out I said to myself it might have the 8 speed ZF and it did. Great transmission.

@trent7080 It's a safe assumption to make that it would have a CVT since Nissan wouldn't listen to customers for 2 decades that they hated the CVT.
