  1. That's the thing. Many manufacturers are getting issues with the carbon buildup in the DI motors which means less efficiency and power anyway and a $500-700 carbon cleaning service every 30 or 40k miles or even less. In addition to that there's the turbos which will eventually need replacing and will be a pretty penny. I wonder if the real world fuel economy savings would translate to enough money to cover the parts that will go bad though I doubt it. None of these vehicles ever get what the EPA says they will get.
