  1. I understand where Toyota/Lexus is aiming to be. They stick with the tried and true formula of being just one or two generations behind on everything so they can focus on ironing out defects and keep quality/reliability at the forefront. The thing is however they are pricing themselves out of the market when competitors are absolute killing it with the design, powertrain, features for the money and tech. A Highlander is pushing $60k loaded up, a Sequoia (13 year old design) pushes $70k an RX350 can push near $70k and now this car is pushing $60k as well. Also, the competitors are catching up with reliability so all of a sudden cars like the TLX, M340i, Stinger and S4 seem like far more appealing options and more car for the money. Make an outdated but reliable car, that's fine, but price it accordingly.
