  4. It's an old gussied up Tahoe. Nothing luxurious about it. Perhaps with the newest generation sure but the Escalade has always been an overpriced Tahoe/Suburban.

  5. @ixx People are too hung up about name. One time some idiot crashed an old Infiniti G35 near my house and everyone was going about "oh it was probably daddy's money" when that car goes for less than $5k.

  6.  @UnusSedLeo-w5l  As long as it doesn't have a blown head gasket it will be fixable for a reasonable amount. Whenever I buy auction cars I do a quick head gasket test by putting a rubber glove over the coolant expansion tank. If it inflates there's combustion gas getting in and that car is a no go.

  7. It's not a matter of should have. It's what the customer is paying for and that's it. If they want it restored then pay for it. If he starts handing out freebies that now becomes an expectation by all customers and he will lose money like that.

  8.  @bhopbhooop9145  You aren't the brightest. The Cadillac XTS is dirt cheap especially when bought used. They're just inconsiderate but the detailer will get the last laugh as he will bill for time spent on having to declutter the car.

  9. I just hope that Mitch, or any detailer, doesn't come across any damaging chemicals/substances that could injure him. One detailer in my area ended up detailing an auction find car that unfortunately had fentanyl laced with some sort of chemical in it causing him to pass out and hit his head.

  10.  @FMChimera  It’s built on a truck platform, has the same materials as a base Tahoe and same build quality. It’s not a luxury vehicle. A Mercedes S Class is a luxury car, a Lexus LS is a luxury car.

  12.  @FMChimera  Mercedes is mid level? The S Class, for example, is the car many try to beat. BMW does luxury very well with sport. Jags are barely relevant at the moment. Their old XJs were great. Lexus does luxury well on their higher end offerings. How can you tell me this Escalade is luxury when Mercedes and BMW are mid level?

  13. It's an old Escalade. You can get these for cheap now. If they could afford a new one they would have ditched this one for a new one years ago.

  14. Oil changes aren't expensive. It's things like electrical diagnosis, suspension, the potential timing chain issues the 5.0 is known for as well as sensor issues.

  15.  @jaydawg2023  I work at a car dealership. You'd be surprised at how nasty and poorly maintained some vehicles are by their clueless owners. Even worse they don't maintain them mechanically and are shocked the motor is toast because they went 50k without an oil change.

  16. @R Robert Right but the reason I mentioned it was that this Escalade is basically a truck. At the least the newest ones are far more refined. At the least the other platforms you mentioned are modular and you feel the difference between models.

  18. Great transformation. Most of these German car interiors always bounce back to looking like new. Good quality interiors. The mechanical not so much. Also, Nokian Hakkapelliitas are incredible winter tires.

  19. It's okay. Curiosity got the better of me once and I decided to put my hand in front of the water stream being blasted out from the pressure washer. It hurt.

  21.  @BulkyHealthyCat  Well the LS is quieter than an RR (Of course the RR still feels better as it should) and old LS models are super comfortable on the road and, unlike anything European, are still on the road with 300k.

  24. Because you still need to use a clay lube which can be applied to dry or wet surfaces. Water alone won't be enough plus the longer the water stays on the vehicle the bigger the chance for water spots so it's best to remove water as fast as possible after rinsing.

  27. These were my favorite gen TLs not for how they looked so much but how they drove. A manual SH AWD is a total blast to drive in a spirited manner. Also, Mitch you got that interior looking showroom fresh.

  32. It has to run down the vehicle so it can pull the dirt downwards. If it's too thick it stays stationary which doesn't do anything.

  33. Yes. It gets rid of the contaminants and stuck on bits like tar and iron deposits. Then you can seal the paint.

  39. The thing is these old trucks will outlast the new ones. No BS like AFM or direct injection where the injectors almost always fail after some time plus carbon buildup. Just like the commerical in the 90s "like a rock".

  46. Pressure washers use far less water than a regular hose. It's mostly air pressure.
